COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Four Portland women took to the track on day 2 of the NCAA West Preliminary held on Thursday at Cushing Stadium.
 
Freshman Laura Pellicoro ran a good race in the first of four 800 meter run heats to start the day for Portland. She posted a time of 2:07.18 for 22nd overall, but missed advancing to the quarterfinals by .04 seconds.

Three Pilots competed in the 10,000 meter run to close the evening. Anna Pataki, also a qualifier for Saturday's 5,000 meter run, was Portland's top finisher in a time of 34:14.97 for 15th place. Stella Gillman crossed the line in 35:06.89 to place 21st and Sofia Castiglioni clocked in at 36:07.24 for 34th place.
 
The Pilots have 10 student-athletes competing this week in the NCAA West Prelim. Cathal Doyle and Caleb Webb advanced to the 1,500 meter quarterfinals after a strong showing on Wednesday. Webb will compete in the first heat on Friday at 5:45 p.m. followed by Doyle in the second heat. The top five from each heat and next two best times will advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Webb is also scheduled to compete in the 5,000 meter semifinal at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, while Riley Osen is in the 3,000 meter steeplechase semifinals at 6:10 p.m.
