PORTLAND, Ore. -- Brooklin Gomez and Avery Romano of the Portland Pilots women's rowing team both made the All-West Coast Conference Women's Rowing Team for this past season.
Gomez and Romano were both mainstays of the first varsity eight for the Pilots this season. Gomez is a senior who has rowed with either the varsity four or varsity eight every year. Gomez helped pilot Portland's varsity eight to wins at the PLU Invite and to a fourth-place finish at the WCC Championships.
"Brooklin was a consistent presence for the first varsity eight all year. She always brought the effort and strived for more, and that showed up on the water and on land," Portland Head Coach Gulliver Scott said. "The fact that she achieved a personal best on the last erg test of her career shows her commitment to continuous improvement."
Romano joined the Pilots in 2017 and raced for both the first and the second varsity eight this season. She spent most of the season in the No. 2 spot for the Pilots on the first varsity eight. She will rejoin the Pilots for next season.
"Avery took things to another level this spring. She set some ambitious goals for herself and put in the work required to achieve them," Scott said. "We're fortunate to have Avery returning for a fifth year, and I'm excited to see where she takes things from here."
