PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of Portland men's tennis team has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and has had five athletes named 2021 ITA Scholar-Athletes – Eleftherios Neos, Nicklas Oberg, Dustin Kua, Thomas Hann and Oscar Brown.
Neos and Oberg both made significant contributions to the Pilots this season. Neos earned All-WCC Second Team honors for both singles and doubles after posting an 8-8 dual singles record in the No. 2 spot and a 9-5 doubles record with partner Issa Yoshida in the No. 1 spot. Neos was also named to the WCC All-Academic Team earlier this spring.
Oberg was a steady presence in the No. 4 spot for the Pilots this season. He went an impressive 11-5 this season with a 6-2 record in singles play. He was named the U.S. Bank Student Athlete of the Month in April after finishing the season on a five-match win streak. He earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention as well.
In order to earn ITA All-Academic Team status, a tennis program has to have a team GPA of 3.2 or higher and have all athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form. To be an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
