LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Portland women's tennis team will begin the 2022 campaign at this weekend's Beach Tennis Winter Invite at the Rhodes Tennis Center. The Pilots will join host Long Beach State, CSUN and Boise State for singles and doubles matches Friday through Sunday.
"This tournament is always a great event to start the Spring season," Portland coach Filip Zivkovic said. "The tournament has a Dual Match feel to it and the players get to experience what Spring competition will feel like."
Portland will open the competition in doubles on Friday against Boise State, followed by singles in the afternoon against CSUN. Saturday features the Pilots against CSUN in doubles and the LBSU in singles and the tournament concludes Sunday with UP facing the host 49ers in doubles and Boise State in singles.
"I look forward to seeing us compete against three very good programs and seeing how our players will adjust to playing three tough matches in three days," Zivkovic said. "I know that this group has a lot of fight in them and that they are going to put it on the line for each other in every match. My hope is that we play some good tennis and gain experience for the tough dual matches ahead of us this year"
