No. 14 Pilots Drop Match to BYU 4-1

PROVO, Utah -- The Portland Pilots fell 4-1 on the road against the BYU Cougars this past week. The loss is Portland's first on the season, dropping their record to 9-1-4 on the year.

How it Happened

  • BYU broke the tie when Olivia Wade scored in the 13th minute, assisted by Brecken Mozingo.
  • The Cougars took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Jamie Shepherd in the 33rd minute.
  • BYU expanded its lead to 3-0 on Mozingo's 66th-minute goal.
  • The Pilots got on the board with a 70th-minute goal from Colby Wilson, her second goal of the season and .
  • BYU extended its advantage to 4-1 on Mozingo's goal in the 76th minute, ending the scoring.

Game Notes

  • The loss ended Portland's 13-match unbeaten streak, their longest such streak since 2005 when the Pilots went undefeated and won their second national championship.
  • Bre Norris totaled three saves for the Pilots out of 17 total Cougars shots.
  • Wilson's goal was the second of her career and her season.
  • This is the first match since the season opener that the Pilots have allowed more than one goal.
