PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots men's soccer swept the weekly WCC Player of the Week awards for the fourth time this season, with Brandon Cambridge and George Tasouris winning offensive and defensive honors respectively. The Pilots have now won 10 of a possible 18 weekly awards.
Cambridge put in the game-winning goal against the LMU Lions and added an assist later in the 4-0 rout. He's now up to 19 points on the season, which is first in the WCC by five points. He is also the only player in the WCC with at least five goals and five assists on the year, notching seven goals with five assists so far. He's posted the most points by a Pilot since Benji Michel in 2018.
Tasouris, meanwhile, put together his fourth shutout in goal for the Pilots and collected three saves. Tasouris has posted the third-best save percentage in the WCC at .750 and the second-best goals-against average at .951. The Pilots have allowed just one goal or less in 10 of their 13 matches. With his third win this season, Tasouris has now earned the most WCC Player of the Week awards of any Pilot in a single season.
Portland's record through 13 matches is their best since the 2018 season, which they started undefeated through this same stretch. The Pilots are first in numerous categories in the WCC, including goals (34), assists (38), points (106), shutout percentage (.462), assists per game (2.92), points per game (8.15), goal differential (22) and scoring offense (2.62). Nationally, the Pilots are third in points per game, sixth in assists per game, ninth in total assists, 10th in total points and 13th in total goals and goal differential.
