SPOKANE, Wash. -- The No. 7 Portland Pilots allowed one goal early but scored three unanswered to win 3-1 in Spokane against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Portland improved to 10-1-3 overall and 4-0-0 in WCC play following the victory.
How it Happened
- Gonzaga grabbed a 1-0 lead when Demitrius Kigeya scored in the 11th minute, assisted by Wylie Trujillo.
- The Pilots responded almost immediately to make it a 1-1 game on a goal from CJ Tibbling -- his seventh of the season -- in the 11th minute, assisted by Brandon Cambridge.
- Portland then broke the 1-1 draw on Sebastian Nava's 53rd-minute goal, his fourth of the season.
- The Pilots made it a 3-1 lead with a 67th-minute goal from Cambridge, his seventh goal of the season. The goal ended the scoring in the game.
Game Notes
- Cambridge now has 22 points on the year, the most by any Pilot since Benji Michel in 2018 and the most in the WCC. He has eight goals and six assists.
- Tibbling's second on the team in points this season with 16. He's tied for second in the WCC in points as well.
- Nava's goal puts him at 14 points on the year, good for third on the team and tied for fourth in the WCC.
- The Pilots still have their best record since 2018.
- This is the fourth time in six fall seasons the Pilots have hit at least 10 wins under Nick Carlin-Voigt.
- The Pilots have allowed one goal or less in 11 of their 14 matches this season.
- This the 12th time this year the Pilots have scored multiple goals in a game.
