PORTLAND, Ore.---Konnor Hathaway and Grace Oswin produced first-place victories in the men's 600m and women's 600m, respectively, and Chris Morzenti and Ellie Erikson claimed solo wins in the 800 men's and women's meter runs, amongst many solid performances from members of both Pilots track and field squads at the Portland Indoor Three on Saturday night.
Â
It was a 1-2 finish for the Pilots in the men's 600m, with Hathaway earning a new personal best of 1:21.93 to remain in third-place all-time in the Portland record books. Sully Nordheim garnered second with a PR of 1:22.19, which marks the fourth-place all-time best finish in the event.
Â
The Halftime Mile made its return to the Chiles Center during the midway break of the men's basketball game earlier in the evening, with Chris Anderson placing third overall in 4:12.15, John Kavulich fourth in 4:12.55, and Cameron Thompson fifth in 4:13.44—all new personal records.
Â
All three Pilots who competed in the men's 3000 meter run also posted new personal bests, with AJ Reyes taking sixth in 8:48.63, Kai Vickers collecting ninth in 8:54.01, and Luke Knoblich's 9:03.20 putting him 11th.
Â
"I was really impressed with our guys in the mile tonight," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "Chris, John and Cameron all hit some big PRs. Overall I was very pleased with how people competed, the guys in the 3000 and the 600 also ran personal bests. The meet serves a purpose to sharpen people up for next week."
Â
Making her debut in the women's 600m, Oswin clocked in at 1:42.60 for the individual win, and landed the fifth-best all-time finish in the event. Teresa Perez crossed the line in a time of 1:47.25, and sits in sixth-place all-time with the result.
Â
Lauren Block took second overall in the women's mile with a time of 5:16.26, Lacey Conner finished sixth in 5:22.34, and Alexa Hague locked in ninth at 5:31.64.
Â
The women's 4x400 team of Avery Gill, Ella Parker, Ellie Erikson and Tara Fuiten strode into first place with a time of 3:55.59, and nearly broke the school record of 3:54.14, which was set back in 2016.
Â
"Several people really impressed me tonight," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Ellie Erikson looked great winning the 800, our 4x4 just missed the school record, and Grace Oswin had one of her best races ever as a Pilot with a dominating win in the 600."
Â
The Pilots are back in action at Dempsey Indoor for the UW Husky Classic on Friday, February 11th, returning home to host the Portland Indoor Four in the Chiles Center on Sunday, February 13th.
