INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Pilots track and field standout Laura Pellicoro has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the women's mile event, announced the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee on Wednesday.
The freshman earns the bid after posting an impressive 4:34.45 mile performance at the UW Husky Classic back on February 12th, which broke the previous all-time school record of 4:36.92 set in 2019.
"Laura has done an amazing job this indoor season and really impressed me," said head coach Ian Solof. "This was the hardest year ever to qualify, so for her to go in as the tenth seed as a freshman is amazing. I'm really excited to see her race the best women in the NCAA next week."
The championships, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the City of Birmingham, will be held March 11 and 12 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
