• The Pilots hit the road for the Sacramento State Invitational to open the 2022 season.
• Portland is set for three matches in Sacramento, facing the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders and Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday, August 26th at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. The final contest against the Sacramento State Hornets will take place Saturday, August 27 at 1:30pm.

"We are very excited to start off our 2022 indoor season this weekend at the Sacramento State Invitational. This group of young women have been working very hard over the last three weeks training together and getting better every day. We're a new team with several new faces and every day we learn new things about each other, growing together as a unit. Our solid group of returners have set a high bar of hard work & grit for our squad. 
 
This weekend I expect us to come out ready to give our best and compete hard for one another. Our motto for the season is 'One Team, One Goal' and this team has bought into that identity together. ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Megan Burton enters her third year as the head coach of the Pilots volleyball program, with assistant coaches Dylan Hamilton also returning for the 2022 season. Additionally, the Pilots welcome Kyle Homeyer as a new assistant coach for the 2022 season after serving as a volunteer coach in 2021.
• The Pilots also bring back six letter winners from the fall 2021 season.
• The program welcomes seven true freshmen to The Bluff this fall in Maui Robins, Elin Larsson, Jordan Bardouche, Marleena Catalan, Lucia Busso, Larkin Chock, and Una Rajkovic.
• Portland has also added three transfer students to their roster, including setter Talyn Jackson out of Virginia Tech, middle blocker Griselda Memia from American University, and outside hitter Lia Hawken from Dayton University.
• Hawken and Jackson both played with the Pilots during the 2022 beach season.
• Portland will be looking for leadership from returner Jayde Harris, as well as their transfers to create an exciting and dynamic offense this season. Harris led the team with 261 kills in 2021, which earned her all-WCC honors.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
• Middle Tennesee finished 9-12 overall during the 2021 season. Redshirt Junior, Samira Lawson Body, will be returning for the Blue Raiders with 274 kills last season.
• Nevada's 2021 season culminated in a 3-26 overall record, including an 0-18 record within the Mountain West Conference. The Wolfpack returns Senior, Kyle Waiters, who recorded 256 kills during the
2021 season.
• The Pilots beat the Wolfpack 3-1 in their season opener last year.
• Sacramento State recorded a 16-12 season last fall, with a 10-6 record within the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets are returning Junior, Bridgette Smith, who recorded 350 kills last season and 407.5 points, contributing the teams .194 attack percentage.
