SAN MATEO, Calif. – For the first time in her Pilot career, Portland women's soccer defender Colby Wilson has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week after two standout performances against Seattle U and Washington.
Wilson played a full 90 minutes against both the Redhawks and the then No. 24 Huskies, helping the Pilots win 1-0 over Seattle and keeping the Pilots even with Washington. In the Seattle match, Wilson helped the Pilots earn their sixth straight shutout of the year, the most since the 2010 season and the most in their first seven games since 2000. She also earned an assist in the Pilots' 1-1 draw against Washington.
The Pilots are off to a stellar start this season, going 5-0-3 to start the season and staying unbeaten through their first eight games for the first time since 2010. This week, they are hosting the Oregon Ducks at Merlo Field, doing so on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
