Portland Head Coach Nick Carlin-Voigt on the win
"Well-earned win tonight as we controlled the majority of the game. Some phases we played so clean and simple and it was crisp and fluid and then other moments we made it much too difficult on ourselves. Our first goal was a incredibly well-executed team play finished off by Kevin Bonilla. Their keeper made some big saves and we needed to be a little sharper in both boxes. We could have put this game away earlier by being more clinical, but that's not how college soccer works as there are no easy games on the West Coast. We knew Bakersfield would come in and put up a good, committed fight which is exactly what they did. We will quickly learn from this match and prepare for Utah Tech Sunday night under the lights at Merlo."
