PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer signed five recruits from the Class of 2024 this signing period. Christina Davenport, Tayvi Khan, Taylor Norman, Nevaeh Peregrina and Kyah Zurek will all join the Pilots for the Fall 2024 season.
"Our entire program is incredibly excited to introduce the incoming class of 2024 to UP," Portland Head Coach Michelle French said. "They are an electrifying group of players that will enhance the way we're able to play and compete on the field, and without a doubt will bring their energy and uniqueness to our program's culture. We know the overall impact these special student-athletes will have during their four years on the Bluff and they will leave a lasting impression on our program and within the entire UP community."
Christina Davenport – Alpharetta, Ga. – Concorde Fire Platinum – Defender
Christina "Sis" Davenport commits to Portland from Alpharetta, Ga. She's been a starter all four years for Denmark High School and helped them win the 2023 7A State Championship, scoring the game-winning PK. She earned all-region and all-county honors her first three years at Denmark and earned All-State honors her junior year as well. She played in the Georgia High School All-Star Game as well this year. At the club level, she plays for Concorde Fire Platinum, a club currently ranked third in the Southeast Region.

Tayvi Khann – Shoreline, Wash. – Seattle United – Midfielder/Defender
Khann joins the Pilots from Seattle United and Shorecrest High School. Khann led the Scots to a first-place finish in the Wesco League and a 3A district championship in 2022 as well as a fourth-place finish at the state championships. She earned first team all-state honors and second team All-Wesco recognition as well, leading the team in assists and being named team MVP each of the last two seasons. Khann has also played with club team Seattle United for nine seasons.

Taylor Norman – Glendora, Calif. – Legends – Defender
Norman comes to Portland via Glendora, playing her high school soccer with Glendora High School and her club soccer with Legends FC. With Glendora, she has twice earned All-Palomares League honors, making the second team in 2020-21 and the first team in 2022-23. For 2022-23, she was the team captain and was also named the team's defensive MVP. With Legends FC, she's been the ECNL team's captain since 2021 and has guided them to a Southwest League championship and a Southwest Conference first-place finish. She was named ECNL Southwest First Team All-Conference for 2022-23.

"Taylor is an impressively composed and spatially aware CB. Due to her overall defending presence and ability to read the game, she effectively organizes her teammates, and because of that, can successfully win possession and spark the attack from a deeper position on the field."

"I fell in love with UP the moment I stepped on campus. The coaches and players are very personable and showed me so much kindness. The constant grind, mentality, and genuine love for soccer that I saw on my visit was something that I wanted to be a part of."
Nevaeh Peregrina – Ogden, Utah – La Roca – Midfielder.
Peregrina is a talented midfielder from Utah. She was a first team all-state player each of her four years at Ogden High School and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year her junior season. She led the Tigers to two state championships and three region titles and broke the school record for goals in a season her senior year with 29. At the club level, she's played with La Roca Futbol Club since 2015, winning the state cup three times, one regional championship in 2021 and a national championship that same season. She earned the golden ball at nationals that year as well. She has extensive experience with the U.S. Youth National Team, earning camp invites in both 2020 and 2022 and earning the call up to play in a development tournament in Sweden.

Kyah Zurek – Gilbert, Ariz. – SC Del Sol – Winger
A winger from Arizona, Zurek comes to Portland with a glut of club and national team experience. Zurek was most recently a part of U.S. Soccer's Youth National Team ID Camp in 2022 and 2019 and was also a part of the regional camp in 2021. She was named to the Top 18 for ODP West in 2020. She won Best Female Athlete with her former club team, Arsenal ECNL, and also made the IMG Top 150. Zurek is an accomplished track and cross-country athlete as well, finishing second at the 5A Cross Country State Championships for Camille Casteel High School and helping the team win first overall.

The Pilots posted a 10-4-3 record this past season and a 4-3-1 record in WCC play. Their winning percentage (.68) was their best since 2013 and they posted 10-plus wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since that season as well. They posted 11 shutouts for the second straight year and allowed just nine goals all season, the fewest since 2008. Their seven All-WCC players were also the most since 2010.
