PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots added three players from the Class of 2024 this signing period: Brynn Eshoo, Caitlin Monahan and Ella Zimmerman.
"We are excited to announce our 2024 signing class with Brynn Eshoo, Ella Zimmerman and Caitlin Monahan," Portland head coach Michael Meek said. "All three embody what Portland basketball is all about; they posses a strong work ethic, are elite students, great teammates and have a passion to compete."
Brynn Eshoo – Forward – Inverness, Ill.
From Illinois, Brynn Eshoo comes to Portland as a versatile 6-foot-2 forward that should bolster Portland's frontcourt. She's led the William Fremd High School Vikings to division and regional championships each of the last two seasons, with the Vikings finishing the 2022-23 season as the top ranked team in Illinois for 4A. She was a 2023 Mid-Suburban League All-Conference First Team selection in 2023 and a 2023 Daily Herald All-Area selection as well. She comes from a basketball family, with her father, Brad, having played at Knox College.
Coach Meek on Eshoo:
"Brynn brings a versatility inside and out that fits well with our team and style of play. She will be a physical, athletic presence for us and has been a part of several great teams and an elite high school program. We are elated to have her join our program here on The Bluff."
Ella Zimmerman – Forward – Redondo Beach, Calif.
Zimmerman brings length to the Pilots as a 6-foot-4 power forward from Redondo Beach, Calif. After averaging 19 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for Redondo Union High School last year, Zimmerman was named the 2022-23 Basketball Bay League MVP and the Daily Breeze All-Area Player of the Year. An All-CIF SS DII 2023 selection, she led the Seahawks to a 10-0 record in Bay League Play. Both her parents played college volleyball, with her mother, Lisa, playing at Cal Berkeley and her father, Andy, playing at LMU.
Coach Meek on Zimmerman:
"Ella is a proven winner from a highly successful program and a player that can shoot the ball well. She has a great motor and is a very high-IQ player. She is another athlete that can offensively play multiple positions. We are excited to have Ella become a Portland Pilot."
Caitlin Monahan – Guard – Mercer Island, Wash.
A Pacific-Northwest product, Caitlin Monahan rounds out the Class of 2024 as a key addition to the backcourt. Monahan plays for Mercer Island High School and has been named the team MVP for the Islanders each of the last two season. She was a All-Kingco First Team selection at the 3A level in 2021-22 and a second team selection last year. She was also named to the all-tournament team at the Desert Holiday Classic in 2022. She plays club basketball for the NW Greyhounds, who finished 10
th in the 3SSB Circuit at U-17 level. Her grandfather, Terry Monahan, also played basketball at the University of Portland.
Coach Meek on Monahan:
"Caitlin is a competitive guard that brings an elite level of perimeter shooting. She is an awesome teammate and has competed on high-level club teams throughout her high school career. We are thrilled to have Caitlin joining our women's basketball family."
Portland recently enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent history, going 23-9 and winning the 2023 WCC Tournament for their second conference championship in four seasons. They qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the second time in four years and played their first tournament game since 1997.
The Pilots are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season against the Oregon Ducks, their biggest win over a Pac-12 team in program history. They'll host the Montana State Bobcats on Saturday, Dec. 2 for their next contest, with tipoff set for 5 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
