THIS WEEKEND: HALFTIME MILE
• The Pilots will be hosting the Halftime Mile in the Chiles Center.
• The event will start during halftime of the men's basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023 around 7 p.m.
• General admission for the game still applies.
• Live results from the meet will be available at portlandpilots.com.
LAST MEET: PORTLAND INDOOR TWO
• A total of nine Pilots recorded personal record marks between the men and women.
• Senior Avery Gill won the women's 400 meter dash, claiming the fourth fastest time in Pilot history (58.04).
• Sophomore Will Bush won heat 2 of the men's mile in 4:35.69, his debut at the distance.
• The women's 4x400 meter relay won the meet overall in a time of 4:07.77.
• Freshman Julia Ghiselli made her Pilot debut in the mile, running 5:17.65 to place ninth overall.
2023 LOOK AHEAD
• Portland will travel to Seattle for one more indoor meet, the Husky Classic, set for Feb. 10-11.
• The MPSF Championships are scheduled to take place Feb. 17-18 in Spokane, Wash., with the NCAA Indoor Championships to follow on Mar. 10-11 in Albuquerque, N.M.
• Pilot all-time performers Pellicoro, Kirk, Klatt and Strangio will return to the oval this season ready to compete, as well as many others who will look to crack into the top-10 lists this season.
LAST SEASON
• The Pilots competed in eight indoor meets during the 2021-22 track season. A strong combination of both returning athletes and newcomers made it one of the most successful years in history for the Pilots.
• Dozens of athletes recorded personal best marks, while both records and top-10 All-time positions were rewritten in multiple events.
• Laura Pellicoro also represented the Pilots at the NCAA Indoor Track National Championships in Birmingham, Ala. where she placed 11th overall in the mile.
• Parker Wilkerson (1:21.72), Konnor Hathaway (1:21.93) and Sully Nordheim (1:22.19) ran the #2, #3 and #4 marks all-time in the 600 meter event.
• In the 800 meter event, Parker Wilkerson (1:49.85) and Konnor Hathaway (1:52.33) both broke the existing school record to take the top two spots on the all-time list. Wilkerson broke the record on two separate occasions, the UW Preview and the UW Invitational. Chris Morzenti also recorded the #7 time in school history with a time of 1:53.83.
• In the mile, Matt Strangio broke the school record running a time of 3:59.19 at the UW Invitational. Chris Morzenti also recorded the #7 time in school history running 4:02.02.
• In the 3000 meter event, Jacob Klemz (7:51.95), Stan Niesten (7:55.92) and Riley Osen (7:57.82) ran the #2, #6 and #8 times in school history.
• The women had equal amounts of success, with many records and top-10 marks falling throughout the season.
• In the women's 200 meter, Ella Parker ran the #3 mark in school history with a time of 25.78 seconds.
• In the women's 400 meter, Ella Parker (58.11), Avery Gill (58.63) and Laura Pellicoro (58.74) ran the #4, #6 and #7 marks in school history.
• Laura Pellicoro ran the #3 time in school history for the women's 800 meter with a time of 2:07.48.
• Laura Pellicoro (4:34.45) and Veerle Bakker (4:43.38) ran the #1 and #3 times in school history for the mile. Pellicoro's mark also qualified her for the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
• In the women's 3000 meter event, Veerle Bakker broke the school record with a time of 9:11.90, while Laura Pellicoro recorded the #9 mark all-time with 9:24.54.
• Anna Pataki ran the #3 time in school history for the 5000 meter discipline with a time of 15:55.65. It was also a Hungarian national record. Claire Fagan ran the #8 time in school history with a mark of 16:32.08.
• The women's 4x400 meter relay record was broken with a time of 3:51.19. The team was composed of Parker, Fuiten, Gill and Pellicoro.
