PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team beat the Santa Clara Broncos 6-1 on Friday in West Coast Conference action at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots improve to 9-4 overall, 1-1 in league play and are now 7-0 in matches played on campus at LPTC.

Portland continued its doubles dominance with a 6-2 win at No. 1 and 6-4 victory at No. 2. The Pilot duo of Iva Zelic and Sally Pethybridge are now 23-7 overall this season and 11-2 in dual matches at the No. 1 position. Rimona Rouf and Alexandra Dimitrijevic won their ninth consecutive doubles match at No. 2 and are now 11-1 this spring.

The Pilots extended their margin with Pethybridge cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over JennaMarie Gordon and Zelic knocking off Finley Kalinic 7-5, 6-2 at the top of the lineup. Zelic is now 10-4 at No. 1 singles in dual matches this season.

Santa Clara picked up a point from Velizara Fileva at No. 3 singles before the Pilots closed it out with wins at all three positions at the bottom of the lineup.

Rubio Perez continued her stellar freshman campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Varya Zlotnik at No. 6 for the match clincher. Rubio Perez is now 21-5 overall and 11-2 in dual singles matches.

Meagan Pearson then defeated Kacey Feng 7-6, 6-2 at No. 5 and Dimitrijevic concluded the scoring with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory against Giulia Hayer at No. 4.

Portland will now look for a weekend WCC sweep when the San Francisco Dons visit on Saturday at 10 a.m. The match will have live video and scoring links at PortlandPilots.com.
