PORTLAND, Ore. -- Seven Portland pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts, but the Pilots fell to the Seattle U Redhawks 10-2 on Tuesday.
Carter Gaston (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Portland (17-15). Jacob Dobmeier started the ballgame and went four innings, surrendering one run on two hits, walking one and striking out four.
Henry Muench led the way offensively for the Pilots, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame. Riley McCarthy put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Jake Holcroft also contributed, going 1-for-5 for Portland with the team's only RBI.
How it Happened
Trailing 1-0, the Pilots first put their first run on the board in the fifth inning. Portland got an RBI single from Holcroft, scoring McCarthy from third base.
The Redhawks broke the tie with a monster eighth inning, scoring eight runs off three different Pilot pitchers. Seattle U added one more run in the ninth off a home run from Matt Boissoneault.
McCarthy came across to score the lone run of the ninth for Portland, but it was too little too late.
