University of Portland seniors Sema Pankin and Eleftherios Neos have been named the West Coast Conference Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Playing their final home matches at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center, the tandem went out in style with wins in matches against Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine.
In Thursday's 6-1 team win against LMU, Pankin and Neos set the tone with a dominating 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles over John Bryan Otico and Austin Di Giulio. The duo then earned a hard-fought 6-4 win on Saturday against Pepperdine's No. 47-ranked tandem of Tim Zeitvogel and Daniel De Jonge.
The pair have now won six straight dual matches, are 5-0 against WCC competition and 13-6 overall this season.
Portland (9-8, 3-3 WCC) will hit the road for its final three regular season matches. Next week the team visits Saint Mary's and Pacific, before taking on Gonzaga on Saturday, April 22. The Pilots are looking to secure a spot in the
2023 WCC Championships with a top six league finish.
