SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland Pilots pitcher Nick Brink has been named the WCC Pitcher of the Week after a stellar performance against the Gonzaga Bulldogs this past Sunday. This is the first win of Brink's career.
Brink was in complete control on the mound on Sunday, pitching a career-high six innings and seven strikeouts with only one run and five hits allowed in the start. He kept the Zags in check and helped the Pilots earn a thrilling 5-4 walk-off win to clinch the series and take second place in the conference. The win sealed Portland's first series win against the Bulldogs since 2015.
The Pilots have been one of the top teams in the WCC all season long, sitting at 22-17 overall and 11-7 in WCC play. They are currently second in the WCC and have the most overall wins of any WCC team. They currently lead the conference in batting average (.290), total hits (398) and win-loss percentage (.564).
Portland hits the road this weekend for their three-game series against the BYU Cougars. The two teams begin the series on Thursday, April 27 at 5 p.m. PST. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video option.
