Austin, Texas – Cathal Doyle finishes eighth in his heat at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Doyle recorded a time of 3:40.64, closing in 54.81 for his last lap, to finish 15th overall among semifinal competitors. The top five runners from each of the two heats and next two best times advanced to Friday's finals.

Doyle's third consecutive appearance in the 1,500 meter marks 30 out of the last 31 years that Portland has had at least one representative at the NCAA Championships, this being the 22nd year in a row for the Pilots. In his last two appearances, Doyle finished 13th and 19th overall in the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Championships, respectively. He ends his NCAA career as a Pilot with the No. 1 1500 (3:38.05), No. 3 5,000 meter (13:38.01) and No. 4 800 meter (1:49.58).Â
