PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Basketball has added four standout transfers to the roster for the 2023-24 season, bringing Kennedy Dickie, Anna Eddy, Natalie Fraley and Kianna Hamilton to The Bluff.
"As a program we have created an excellent team culture where we care for one another and possess a championship-level work ethic. All four of these athletes will add positively to that culture," Portland Head Coach Michael Meek said. "They care about doing well in the classroom, which has been a standard of our team and program, but most importantly, they put the team first, and that is at the forefront of being a Portland Pilot. We are very excited about the additions of these student-athletes to our program and about what they will bring both on and off the court."
Kennedy Dickie – Forward – 6-0 – University of San Francisco
Kennedy Dickie joins the Pilots after spending two years with the San Francisco Dons. Dickie was a key starter for the Dons, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in 65 games played. Last season, she averaged 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest and posted nine double-doubles. She twice made the All-WCC Second Team. Prior to that, she played two years at Eastern Washington, making the Winter Big Sky All-Academic team her sophomore year.
"Kennedy is a returning all-league player to our roster that is versatile both offensively and defensively," Meek said. "She also led her team in rebounding and wants to keep improving on the boards. She is hard-working and a fantastic teammate that fits perfectly into our system."
Natalie Fraley – Guard – 6-0 – Utah State University
The Pilots add Natalie Fraley to the backcourt after she spent one year with the Utah State Aggies. Fraley played in 24 games for the Aggies with five starts, averaging 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest. She put up a season high of 18 points against San Jose State on Jan. 21 this past season. Prior to Utah State, Fraley dominated at Kelso High School in Washington, averaging 22.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 4.6 assists her senior year and winning Cowlitz and Lewis County MVP.
"Natalie is a skilled offensive player that can play multiple positions," Meek said. "She works hard and is all about bringing a positive team culture. She is a quality all-around player with a great future in our program."
Anna Edy – Guard – 5-9 – Seattle Pacific University
Joining the Pilots after two years at Seattle Pacific, Anna Eddy adds to the backcourt depth of the Pilots. A Portland local, Eddy played in 57 games over two years with the Falcons, averaging 7.8 points per game and just under one steal. She twice made the GNAC All-Academic team and came up big in several games last season, including a career-high 26 points against No. 12 Cal State San Marcos and a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double against Stanislaus State.
"Anna is a versatile scorer and an elite shooter," Meek said. "She is a tremendous worker who wants to be coached and cares about team success. We are very excited to add Anna to our program."
Kianna Hamilton – Guard – 6-0 – Long Beach State University
After five years with Long Beach State, Kianna Hamilton comes to Portland for her final year of eligibility. Hamilton-Fisher averaged 11.2 points and 2.2 steals a game last season for the Beach, playing in 33 games with 31 starts. She also tallied 83 assists with 73 steals and a team-high 20 blocks. She earned All-Big West Honorable Mention as well and was a key part of a Long Beach State squad that went 23-10 last season and 17-3 in Big West play.
"Kianna has been a part of a league championship team and is a former all-league player," Meek said. "She is a smart and versatile defender that led her team in steals last season and will fit great with our style of play. She is also a multi-talented offensive player that can play point and move over to the wing as a playmaker. "
The Pilots are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, having finished 23-9 overall and 15-3 in WCC play for their best overall record since the 1996-97 season and highest WCC win total ever. Portland won the 2023 WCC Tournament to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, playing in their first tournament game since 1997. They have won two WCC Championships in the last four seasons. Under Coach Meek, they've reached at least 20 wins three times in four seasons as well.
