SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the fifth time in her career, Portland Pilots goalkeeper Bre Norris has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week after the first week of the season.
Norris earns the honor after the Pilots put together a dominant defensive performance in their 1-0 win over the CSUN Matadors. Norris was credited with the shutout in this one, marking her 20
th shutout as a keeper for Portland, which ranks eighth in program history. The Pilots were also one of just two WCC teams to post a shutout win over the weekend.
The goalkeeper from Boise enters the year as one of the top names to watch between the pipes, having been named one of the goalkeepers to watch by United Soccer Coaches this preseason. An All-WCC and All-West Region Second Team selection last year, Norris enters the 2023 season as an All-WCC Preseason Team selection as well.
