HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The Portland volleyball team defeated the Texas A&M-CC Islanders in four sets (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19) Friday at Johnson Coliseum.
The non-conference win improved Portland's overall record to 1-0 on the season. Leonie Freytag finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Pilots attack. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Maui Robins had 11 and Kili Robins had 11.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots grabbed control of the set-one lead at 2-1 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-21. Portland led by seven points at 15-8 before finishing off the set.
SET 2 | Portland took set two 25-21 to swiftly grab a 2-0 lead. The Pilots grabbed control of the set lead early on at 6-5 and never trailed. Portland led by as many as four points at 15-11 before finishing off the set. The Portland offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Texas A&M-CC stayed alive with a third-set win to make it a 2-1 match. The Pilots came up short by the score of 25-22. Texas A&M-CC grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that was tied up three times before the Islanders took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 4 | Portland then responded to close out the match with a 25-19 fourth-set victory. The Pilots took the lead for good at 9-8 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Pilots took over the lead. Portland also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
