LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Portland volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-23) to beat the Lamar Cardinals Thursday at Cox Pavilion. The out-of-conference win improved Portland's overall record to 5-5 on the season.
Lia Hawken finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Pilots attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .52. Una Rajkovic also pitched in with five in the contest. Portland got 8 digs from Kili Robins to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Pilots won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-14. Portland led by as many as 12 points at 21-9 before finishing off the set. Portland also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Portland put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Pilots grabbed the set thanks to a strong showing on the attacking side. Portland put together a .417 attack percentage with 19 kills in the set win. The Pilots opened up a 22-15 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. Portland's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Lamar attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Portland then ended the match with a victory in set number three. The Pilots won the set 25-23 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. Portland registered a .324 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set win. The Pilots opened up a 9-4 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.
