PORTLAND, ORE. --The Portland volleyball team could not out-play an opposing Lions offense Thursday at home losing to Loyola Marymount in straight sets (14-23, 14-23, 20-24). The loss dropped Portland's record to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in WCC play.
Maui Robins finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Pilots attack. Portland got 4 digs from Lia Hawken to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 23-14. Portland trailed by as many as 11 points as Loyola Marymount grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up six times before the Lions took control.
SET 2 | Portland lost the second set 23-14, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Pilots fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Loyola Marymount finished the sweep with a set-three win. The Pilots lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set 24-20.
