SEATTLE, Wash. – Portland freshman sprinter Marlee Cavitt beat her own program record in the 200-meter run with a time of 24.85 to highlight day one of the UW Invitational Friday at the Dempsey Indoor.
Cavitt, who previously set the mark of 24.99 at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 13, continues to re-write the UP record books in the sprinting categories. She also owns the 60-meter record with a time of 7.54, which she will try to beat on Saturday as the UW Invitational continues.
Other highlights from Friday include quality runs from a number of freshmen as Sai Sawant posted a 26.25 mark in her 200-meter run, just outside the school's Top 10. Katie Newton set a new PR in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:18.27, shaving more than 10 seconds off her previous best.
