PORTLAND, OR -- The Portland Pilots racked up 14 blocks on the way to a 3-0 victory (25-18, 26-24, 25-18) against the Santa Clara Broncos at the Chiles Center. This sweep was their first against the Broncos since 2018. The conference victory improved Portland's record to 10-6 overall and 3-3 in WCC play.

The Pilot's attack was led by Elin Larsson, who finished with a match-high 14 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .357. Portland got nine digs from Maui Robins along with 12 blocks from Taina Kaauwai and 10 blocks from Lucia Busso to pace them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots grabbed an early lead, winning the first set 25-18. Portland never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Pilots took over the lead. The Pilots got a solid defensive performance from the front row that blocked five Santa Clara attacks in the first set.

SET 2 | After winning the first set, the Pilots came close to sweeping the match with a 26-24 win in the second set. The Pilots secured the set with strong attacking, achieving a .462 attack percentage and 14 kills. After one lead changed, Portland took control at 25-24 and held on to win.

SET 3 | Portland closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning the third set. The Pilots led from the opening point on in the set to earn a 25-18 victory. Portland opened as much as a 10-point lead at 22-12 before finishing off the set. Portland's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Santa Clara attacks on the way to victory.Â
