PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots and Washington State Cougars played to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Lower Soccer Field in Pullman. The draw moved Portland's record to 7-3-5 overall and 2-1-2 in WCC play.
Jillian McBride scored Portland's goal on Saturday, the first of her season and of her Pilot career. Bre Norris collected three saves in goal for Portland, moving to 259 for her career, just four shy of tying Portland's all-time record for career saves.
How it Happened
Portland started the scoring when Jillian Mcbride scored her first goal of the season in the 34th minute. McBride pressed Washington State keeper Nadia Cooper, who launched a ball into McBride that bounced back and right into the goal. McBride's goal, as well as a crucial save on a penalty kick from Bre Norris in the 27th minute, kept Portland up 1-0
The score stayed in favor of the Pilots the majority of the match. The Cougars found the equalizer late, earning a draw on a goal from Kendall Campbell in the 85th minute, assisted by Rajanah Reed. The goal closed the scoring in the game.
