SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Portland Pilots got goals from Kayla Adams and Aliyah Dockter in a 2-0 shutout win over the San Diego Toreros Friday on the road at Torero Stadium. The victory improved Portland's record to 8-3-5 overall and 3-1-2 in WCC play.
The goals for Dockter and Adams were the second the of the year for each Pilot. Bre Norris recorded her fifth shutout of the year in goal for Portland and the 35th of her career, good for second all-time for Portland.
How it Happened
Portland broke the 0-0 tie when Dockter scored her second goal of the season in the 16th minute. Dockter corralled a ball that was punched out by San Diego and sent a banger right past the back line to give Portland a 1-0 lead.
The Pilots extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Adams -- her second goal of the season -- in the 83rd minute, assisted by Hailey Bagby. Bagby played it in to Adams who sent it sailing into the top left corner for the goal. The score remained 2-0 to the end.
Game Notes
- Bre Norris recorded her 35th shutout as a Pilot on Friday. She is now tied for second all-time in program history in career shutouts.
- The singular save from Norris puts her at 260 for her career. She's just three saves away from tying the career saves record for Portland and four away from breaking it.
- As a team, the Pilots have recorded six shutouts this season.
- Portland got goals from Aliyah Dockter and Kayla Adams on Friday night. It's the second goal of the year for both Pilots.
- The Pilots have scored 33 goals through 16 games, their highest goal total through that many games since 2013.
- Portland has won at least eight games each of the last four seasons.
