MALIBU, CA – The Pilots could not out-play the Waves offense Saturday on the road losing to Pepperdine in straight sets (21-25, 12-25, 16-25). The loss dropped Portland's record to 10-8 overall and 3-5 in WCC play. 
Elin Larsson finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Pilots offense. Portland got a match-high 9 digs from Tinoa Woodward-Hart to lead them defensively. 
Game Notes 
» Tinoa Woodward-Hart had a match-high nine digs and a team-high one ace in the loss. 
» Elin Larsson had a team-high seven kills for Portland. 
» Portland got a match-high four blocks from Maui Robins. 
» Portland attackers were helped by a team-high 15 assists from Havannah Hoeft. 
How It Happened 
SET 1 | The Pilots fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-21 in a game that featured six lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. 
SET 2 | A 25-12 second-set loss put Portland in a 2-0 hole in the match. Portland trailed as Pepperdine grabbed the advantage for good early in a set that was tied up two times before the Waves took over the lead. 
SET 3 | Portland couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Pilots never took the lead and continued to trail before falling in the set 25-16.
