SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots extended their unbeaten streak to six with a 2-1 win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Friday. Portland improved to 4-4-6 overall and 1-0-3 in WCC play with the victory.
Nicky Dunbar and Nick Fernandez scored the goals for Portland. Dunbar's goal was his fourth of the year -- a team high -- while Fernandez's goal was his second.
How it Happened
Portland opened the scoring when Nicky Dunbar notched his fourth goal of the season in the 33rd minute, assisted by Joe Highfield. Dunbar took the cross from Highfield and finished it off with a header.
The Bulldogs levelled the match on a goal from Ben Augee in the 50th minute off a penalty kick. Portland reclaimed the lead to go ahead 2-1 on Nick Fernandez's 54th-minute goal, his second of the season. Sebastian Hernandez assisted the goal, playing it to Fernandez who launched it from well outside the box for a score. The goal capped the 2-1 game.
