SPOKANE, Wash. – Portland women's tennis had a perfect day to open the Gonzaga Invitational on Friday going 5-0 in doubles and then 6-0 in singles, collectively. The Pilots will continue action Saturday with final matches scheduled for Sunday at the Stevens Center.

In top flight doubles action, the tandem of Sally Pethybridge and Alaia Rubio Perez cruised to a pair of victories against opponents from Eastern Washington and Montana by 6-2 and 6-1 margins, respectively. They will be joined in the semifinals by Aleksandra Dimitrijevic and Lexie Flores, winners against teams from Utah State and Gonzaga.

Meagan Pearson and Nadine Arbaizar Martinez also won their lone doubles match in the Red Draw, 6-1 against a tandem from Utah State.

Singles followed the same pattern with Rubio Perez cruising to a 6-0, 6-3 win against Indya Nespor of Utah State in the top flight. Arbaizar Martinez defeated Niyati Kukreti of Utah State in straight sets and Pethybridge also cruised against Larissa Teramura of Seattle U.

The Blue Draw saw Flores pull out a three-set win against Lola Tavcar of Seattle U and Dimitrijevice beating Olivia Halvorsen 6-4, 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals.

Pearson capped the perfect day with a 6-2, 6-3 quarterfinals win against Shivika Agrawal of Montana in the Red Draw.
