PORTLAND, Ore. --The Portland Pilots lost to the Washington State Cougars in three sets (19-25, 13-25, 23-25) Saturday at home at Chiles Center. The loss dropped Portland's record to 12-13 overall and 5-10 in WCC action.
Lucia Busso finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Pilots attack. Portland got a match-high 7 digs from Havannah Hoeft to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-19. Portland trailed as Washington State never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up just once before the Cougars took control.
SET 2 | A 25-13 second-set loss put Portland in a 2-0 hole in the match. The Pilots dropped early on and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Washington State finished the sweep with a third-set win. The Pilots fell in set three 25-23. Portland tied up the set five times before the Cougars took over the lead.
