SEATTLE, Wash. – Portland junior Sally Pethybridge knocked off a nationally-ranked opponent in singles, but the Pilot women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Washington Huskies Friday at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Pethybridge defeated No. 78 Alexia Jacobs 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 in a super tiebreaker at No. 2 singles. It marked the seventh win in a row for Pethybridge who is now 8-1 in dual singles matches.
The Huskies earned the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Washington won the other five singles matches in straight sets to complete the scoring.
The Pilots will remain in Seattle for a neutral site match against the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday at 1 p.m.
