PORTLAND, Ore. -- In the first home match ever for the team on the Tom and Meg Names Family Foundation Beach Volleyball Courts, Portland Pilots Beach Volleyball took down the Bushnell Beacons for the third time this season by a score of 3-2, surpassing last season's win total with the victory.
The Portland 3s, 4s and 5s all earned victories to clinch the match for Portland. The Portland 4s finished first, with Kili Robins and Elena Bullemer earning their fifth win as a duo in a three-set battle. The match between Portland and Bushnell's 2s finished next, with Annika Stammberger and Taylor Helle battling to the end against Bushnell but coming up just short in three sets. The Portland 1s of Elin Larsson and Leonie Freytag also couldn't secure the victory, dropping their match but coming within three and two points in the first and second sets respectively.
It came down to the Portland 3s and 5s to bring home the win, and they delivered. Sophie Lee and Valerie Bruk swept their match with 21-18 wins in both sets, then Jordan Bardouche and Maui Robins gave the Pilots the win as the Portland 5s to give Portland a victory in their first match on the new courts.
