SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – After a magnificent start on Friday, Portland Pilots pitcher Nick Brink has been named the WCC Player of the Week. It's the third WCC Player of the Week honor for Brink.
Brink dominated on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout in a 4-0 win on Friday against Mount St. Mary's. Brink threw 12 strikeouts with no walks and allowed just two hits on the day. He's the first Pilot to throw a complete-game shutout since 2019 and the only WCC pitcher to throw one this season. This was also the fifth start in seven this year where he's allowed fewer than two runs.
Brink has been one of the best pitchers in the nation this year. He's posted a 2.59 ERA with a 5-1 record in seven starts. He leads the conference in both strikeouts (60) and wins and ranks eighth and ninth nationally in those respective categories. He is also third in the WCC in ERA, WHIP (0.98), strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.67) and walks allowed per nine innings.
The Pilots are riding a seven-game winning streak, their longest since the 2020 season. Next up, they're hosting the Oregon Ducks tomorrow, April 2 at Joe Etzel Field. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. on Portland's CW and ESPN+. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video links.
