STOCKTON, Calif. – The Portland men's tennis team fell 4-1 in a West Coast Conference road match to Pacific Saturday at Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. The Pilots fall to 9-6 overall, while the Tigers improve to 13-1.

Pacific secured the doubles point with 6-2 victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

Portland junior Maxim Groysman earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Terence Das at No. 4 singles to pick up a point for the Pilots.

The Tigers completed the scoring with straight set wins at the top three singles positions.

"Not our best performance, but full credit to Pacific," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said, "they played as good of doubles as anybody has played against us this year. I'm sure they had extra motivation since we got them at their place last year. Due to a weird anomaly in the schedule we had to play them two years in a row on the road, which is tough. They definitely had something to do with us playing less than stellar, but I'm pretty confident we won't have two matches like this coming down to the end of the season. Max had a nice win, but Pacific is an experienced team that I'm sure was a bit hurt after last year and really came to play today."

The Pilots will continue WCC action next week with a pair of road matches at San Diego and Pepperdine on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
