GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The end of the 2024 rowing season is near, with the Portland Pilots set for the 2024 WCC Rowing Championships this Saturday, May 18 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center, with races at Lake Natoma.
 
The Pilots are one of six teams competing at the championships, with Gonzaga, LMU, Saint Mary's, San Diego, Santa Clara and Creighton. Racing begins at 8:40 a.m. with the second varsity four at 8:40 a.m. The varsity four race right after at 9 a.m. The varsity eight boats follow, with the second varsity eight at 9:20 a.m. and the first varsity eight at 9:40 a.m.
 
Portland is coming off a stellar year that has seen them earn wins at the Sacramento State Invite and the Tacoma Tussle. The varsity four has earned multiple wins on the year for the first time since 2019 and the Pilots' win at the Sac State Invite was their first at Gold River since 2019 as well. The varsity four was the WCC Crew of the Month in March as well. The Pilots last competed at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships, with three of their four boats racing in the grand finals and the varsity four taking second in the petite final.
