SAN BRUNO, Calif. – University of Portland rowers Veronica Conklin and Tania Hernandez were named to the 2025 West Coast Conference All-Academic First Team, the league office announced on Thursday. Additionally, the Pilots had 20 student-athletes garner honorable mention recognition. Portland's 22 total honorees were the most among 10 WCC rowing institutions.
Student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and have competed in 50 percent of a team's contests to qualify for recognition. The student-athlete cannot be in their first year with the team – either via transfer or newcomer status – and must hold sophomore or higher athletic standing.
Conklin, also a first team academic honoree last season, is majoring in mechanical engineering with a 3.95 cumulative GPA. She has been a mainstay of the first varsity eight crew this season.
Hernandez has a perfect 4.0 GPA as a sports business graduate student while being a member of the varsity four crew.
