TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Portland women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team on Monday, while ten players garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition: Jojo Bach, Kylie Canubida, Aleksandra Dimitrijevic, Iye Onoja, Meagan Pearson, Sally Pethybridge, Rimona Rouf, Alaia Rubio Perez, Rose Watanabe and Iva Zelic.
To qualify for the team award, a program must post a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year. As a team, Portland's active roster posted a 3.77 cumulative GPA during the 2023-24 academic year. Individual scholar athlete awards are given to those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the year. Portland was one of 255 Division I teams to be selected, while 1573 individuals were recognized nationally.
Rouf has been recognized all four years for academic excellence, while Dimitrijevic and Pethybridge are three-time ITA Scholar-Athletes. Canubida, Pearson, Rubio Perez, Watanabe and Zelic have been awarded each of the last two seasons.
Head coach Filip Zivkovic led Portland to the WCC Tournament for the second consecutive season and had Zelic earn all-league first team honors in both singles and doubles with Pethybridge. The Pilots will return five primary lineup players to next year's roster.
