MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Portland Pilots Women's Cross Country opened their season with a win at the Linfield Harrier Classic, finishing first overall with 31 points.  
The team was led by senior Teresa Perez, who finished second overall with a time of 13:54.55 in the 4,000-meter race. Following her, Stina Pettersson secured fourth place for the Pilots, crossing the finish line in 13:57.16. The scoring five for the Pilots also included Brionna Holso in sixth place with a time of 14:01.33, Tiahna Woodger in 10th at 14:33.42, and Katie Newton rounding out the scoring in thirteenth with a time of 14:40.97. The Pilot women claimed the overall team title with a total of 31 points, surpassing Oregon State's second-place finish of 42 points. 
"This was a great start to our season, and I thought everyone ran well" Coach Ian Solof said. "I was proud of how everyone competed in the heat, and we're looking forward to the next one in two weeks."
The Pilots will be racing again at the Green River Gator Invitational on Sept. 14 at Fort Steilacoom Park, starting at 11 a.m. For more coverage and info, visit PortlandPilots.com.
