SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots racked up 51 kills on the way to a 3-0 victory (26-24, 25-19, 25-19) against the Seattle U Redhawks Saturday on the road at Redhawk Center. The non-conference victory improved Portland's overall record to 7-1 on the season, their best start since 2018 and their second best start ever in program history. It's also the first time they've earned back-to-back sweeps since 2019.
The Pilots were paced offensively by Maui Robins, who finished with 17 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .389, and by Leonie Freytag, who had a season-high 10 while hitting .300. Portland got nine digs from Robins along with six blocks from Nevaeh Bray to lead them defensively. Havannah Hoeft added 38 assists in the match in just three sets, the most by a Pilot in a three-set match since 2018.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots persevered in a back-and-forth first set to win 26-24 in a game that featured five lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. The Pilots opening set win came in a set where 17 of their 26 points came via kills.
SET 2 | Portland took set two 25-19 to quickly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Pilots grabbed the set thanks to a strong showing on the attacking side, registering a .394 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set win. The Pilots rallied from down five at 8-3 to claim the win.
SET 3 | Portland took set three to sweep the match. The Pilots took control of the set early and never looked back to win 25-19. Portland led by as many as eight points at 17-9 before finishing off the stanza, collecting 17 kills in the process.
