PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots dominated on their way to a 7-2 win over the Multnomah Lions. The win improved Portland's record to 2-1-0 overall.
Six different Pilots scored on the night, with Buba Fofanah scoring a team-high two goals, his first two of the season. Connor Evans and Joe Highfield both scored their first goals of their Pilot career, with the goal from Evans being the game-winner. Nicky Dunbar and Sebastian Nava had the other two goals for Portland.
Portland's seven goals are the most they've posted in a game since they last played Multnomah back in 2021. They also posted their highest shot total since then at 32.
How it Happened
The Pilots took the lead first on Connor Evans' sixth-minute goal. Evans sent a ball sailing into the box that curved at just the right time to go into the goal. Kendi Bellini and Michael Hatcher assisted the goal.
The Pilots wouldn't score again until the very end of the half, with Joe Highfield earning his first goal as a Pilot. Evans and Nicky Dunbar earned the assists on the play.
Buba Fofanah scored the next two goals for Portland, scoring rapidly in the 48th and 50th minutes. His two goals make him the first Pilot to earn a brace this season. Sebasitan Nava, Wylie Trujillo and Efetobo Aror all earned assists on those goals.
Multnomah scored two goals before the Pilots got on the board again. Sebastian Hernandez scored in the 73rd minute his first goal of the year off a corner from Sebastian Nava. The goal made it 5-2 Portland.
Nicky Dunbar scored next for Portland in the 75th minute. Ethan Zamora sent a deep pass up to Evans, who found Dunbar on the cross for the goal, making it 6-2 Pilots.
Sebastian Nava finished off the scoring for Portland with a goal in the box off assists from Micaah Garnette and Dunbar. That goal put it at its final.
