PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots shut out the San Francisco Dons 1-0 to improve to 6-3-4 on the year and 3-1-1 in conference play. It's the sixth shutout of the year for the Pilots.
Violet Rademacher had the lone goal for the Pilots, her fourth of the year. She now takes the team lead in goals on the year, with Nevaeh Peregrina earning the assist. Sophia Hills was rock solid in goal for Portland, posting her sixth shutout with a career-high six saves.
How it Happened
The first half was even, with neither team gaining the advantage. That changed in the 59
th minute, with Nevaeh Peregrina sending in a perfectly curved ball off the free kick into the box for Violet Rademacher, who smashed it in with the header to make it 1-0 Pilots.
Portland's defense, anchored by six saves from Sophia Hills, kept the Dons at bay. The Pilots fended off five second-half shots from the Dons to hold on for the 1-0 win.
