MORAGA, Calif. – The Portland Pilots played stout defense in a 0-0 draw against the Saint Mary's Gaels down in Moraga. The tie puts Portland at 6-3-5 on the season and 3-1-2 in WCC play.
Sophia Hills records her seventh shutout of the season with the result as well as four saves. The Pilots have conceded just nine goals through 13 matches, marking the third time in four seasons they've conceded that few goals.
How it Happened
Saint Mary's went on the offensive in the first half, recording nine shots, but the Pilots didn't break. Hills recorded her four saves in the first 45 minutes. The second half saw the Pilots push more offensively, posting five shots in the half. Neither team found the go-ahead goal, leading to the 0-0 draw.
Game Notes
- This is the seventh shutout of the season for the Pilots and the seventh for Hills as well. With seven shutouts, Hills has the most clean sheets of any Pilot goalkeeper in their first season since Bre Norris in 2021.
- Hills added four saves, now sitting at 43 saves on the year.
- Portland has given up just nine goals through 13 matches. It's the third time in four seasons they've given up that few goals through 13 games.
