SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland Pilots earned a draw against the Seattle U Redhawks on Wednesday, tying them 2-2 at Championship Field. The tie puts Portland at 7-3-6 on the year and 3-1-3 in West Coast Conference Play.
Violet Rademacher scored for the Pilots, knocking in two penalty kicks for her fifth and sixth goals of the season. It's the highest goal total for Rademacher in a season and the most by any Pilot this year. Rademacher also becomes the first Pilot to record a brace this year.
How it Happened
The Pilots were on the attack early, and it paid off in the 31
st minute with a foul drawn in the box, setting up the penalty kick. Violet Rademacher stepped into the box to take the shot for Portland, netting it for her fifth goal of the year. Portland led 1-0 at the half.
Seattle U responded in the second half with a goal in the first 13 seconds. The game was deadlocked until the Pilots once again drew a foul in the box, setting up their second penalty kick of the night. Rademacher once again stepped up and converted, giving Portland the go-ahead goal in the 63
rd minute.
But the lead eventually diminished. Portland fouled in the box themselves, giving Seattle U a penalty chance. The Redhawks scored to make it 2-2 and save the tie.
