CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 4 Portland Pilots broke the program record for consecutive games unbeaten, tying the No. 23 Oregon State Beavers 1-1 on the road. The result keeps Portland tied for first place in the conference at 9-0-3 overall and 2-0-2 in WCC play.
Anton Hjalmarsson had the lone goal for the Pilots. The goal was enough to keep Portland undefeated, with the pilots unbeaten through 12 games for the first time since 2018. With 22 straight games unbeaten, the Pilots broke the program record for games unbeaten, set back in 1988.
How it Happened
Oregon State opened the scoring in the 14
th minute, with Fran Cortijo scoring off a ball sent in from the endline. Portland responded 15 minutes later in the 29
th minute, when Anton Hjalmarsson scored off the bench for Portland off a chaotic ball in the box sent in by Wylie Trujillo. Hljalmarsson's missile made it 1-1 through the first 45 minutes.
Portland went on the offensive in the second half, holding the Beavers to just one shot while taking four themselves. While the Pilots couldn't find the go-ahead goal, their effort was enough to preserve the 1-1 tie.
