ATLANTA – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer midfielder Nevaeh Peregrina was one of 24 players who earned a call up on Monday to the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team Training Camp in Kansas City.
The camp, the first for new U-20 head coach Vicky Jepson, will be held from Oct. 22-30 at the University of Kansas Health System Training Center, the home of the Kansas City Current. The camp will also be held concurrently with the senior team, who train from Oct. 27-29 in preparation for a match against New Zealand on Oct. 29 at CPKC Stadium.
Peregrina has prior experience with the U.S. national team system, having earned call ups in 2020 and 2022 with the U-16 national team to play at a invitational in Sweden. Peregrina has played in all 14 games for the Pilots this year including 13 starts in the midfield. Peregrina has two assists on the year, leading the Pilots. The midfielder is one of seven at her position called into the camp and one of 10 college players.
The Pilots have a proud history of players at the international level. 12 different Pilots have earned the call to represent their country, with seven having done so for the U.S. team: Stephanie Cox, Justi Baumgardt, Michelle French, Angie Kerr, Shannon MacMillan, Tiffeny Milbrett and Megan Rapinoe. Combined, the Pilots have had a player on the team for all four FIFA World Cup gold medals (1991, 1995, 2015, 2019) and three gold medals at the Summer Olympics (1996, 2008, 2016).
Portland is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 with a showdown against the Seattle U Redhawks. The two teams play in Seattle at 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
