CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Portland Pilots extended their unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-0 win over the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday. The Pilots improve to 5-2-4 on the year and 2-0-1 in WCC play.
Mao Ito scored the lone goal of the match, her first of the year and first ever as a Pilot. The Pilots recorded their fifth shutout of the year, making it 10 out of 11 games this season where they've allowed just one goal or fewer.
How it Happened
Portland opened the scoring with a Mao Ito goal in the 19
th minute. Ito picked Oregon State's pocket and sent a high arching shot over goalkeeper Mya Sanchez into the back of the net for the goal.
Oregon State went on the offensive in the second half, but the Pilots continued to fend them off, including a save from Sophia Hills in the final three minutes. Portland kept the pressure up as well, ultimately earning the 1-0 win.
