PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 9 Portland Pilots earned a crucial victory over the San Francisco Dons with a 3-1 victory at Merlo Field. The win puts Portland at 11-1-3 overall and 4-1-2 in WCC play.
Three Pilots scored, with Sebastian Hernandez, Anton Hjalmarsson and David Ajagbe all scoring. It's the second for Hernandez, the fourth for Hjalmarsson and the ninth for Ajagbe. Portland leapfrogs the Dons for third place in the WCC.
How it Happened
Hernandez struck first in the 12
th minute. Diego Rosas set up for the corner kick and sent it into the box. Hernandez came roaring into the box with a powerful header that made it 1-0 Portland.
San Francisco evened the score in the 33
rd minute, making it 1-1 heading into the second half. Portland took back the lead in the 59
th minute, when Rosas intercepted a pass and went to work offensively. He found Hjalmarsson who sent it in for his fourth goal, a goal that proved to be the game-winner.
The Pilots added one more goal for insurance. Nikos Clarke-Tosczak got set for the free kick and sent it toward goal. Ajagbe rose to the occasion, jumping and heading it in for his ninth goal of the year. The Pilots cruised to a 3-1 win.

- Hernandez's goal was his second of the season.
- Hjalmarsson's goal was his fourth of the year.
- Ajagbe's goal was his ninth of the year.
- Ajagbe's nine goals are the most by any Pilot this season and the most by any Pilot in his first year with the team since Benji Michel in 2016.
- With two tonight, Rosas now has 12 assists on the year. It's the most by any Pilot since Rey Ortiz in 2017.
- Rosas is two assists away from tying the program record for assists in a season, set in 1991 by Joe Leonetti.
- The Pilots stay undefeated at home at 9-0.
- The Pilots have posted at least 11 wins in four of the last five seasons.
